Post-conference: Greenbuild 2007

The Illinois Solar Decathlon team is excited to have its house featured as a tour highlight for attendees of the international Greenbuild conference in Chicago, Nov. 7-9. Following the competition in Washington, the UI elementhouse took a detour before it eventually will come back to the University to be used for research.
The house currently is located in the backyard of the Chicago Center for Green Technology (CCGT), at 445 N. Sacramento Blvd. On Nov. 7, the house and the Center will be open for tours for the expected 15,000 attendees at Greenbuild. While the house is in Chicago, members of the UI team also will conduct a panel discussion at the CCGT to educate the public on green technologies, energy conservation and design/functionality of the house.
The house is expected to stay in Chicago through the winter. So if you're in the area this winter, stop by the Center and visit Illinois' elementhouse.

Illinois' elementhouse is the first fully visible house on the right. (Note the capitol in the background.) This gives an idea of the number of visitors touring the solar houses on the national mall in Washington, D.C. The photo was taken on Oct. 20, the last day the "solar village" was open for public tours.
